Advanced Training For Conflict Resolution

Jerusalem Seminar - March 15-17, 2009

The Challenge

The How

Everyday we hear about the tension and violence in the Middle East.

We hear little of the groups and organizations there who are dedicated to promoting communication, conflict resolution and peaceful alternatives.

With the reintroduction of a nuclear threat, it is more important than ever to support those who willingly put themselves on the line to bring people together.

Advanced tools for communication and conflict resolution are urgently needed by these folks, at this grassroots level.

While no one can impose solutions, we can empower people to find their own common ground.

This seminar will support their efforts and aid their work so that it can have greater impact in this pivotal part of our world.

Your help is needed to give these peacemakers the tools they need to create lasting change and the hope of peace.

PHASE ONE:
An Advanced Training for Peace Workers
The first phase of the project will provide cutting-edge instruction to be held at a three-day residential workshop on March 15-17, 2009 at Neve Shalom, an Arab/Jewish cooperative community in the historic Judean Hills outside Jerusalem.

The Goals For This Phase Include:
1. To train active peace workers from diverse organizations in building communication and conflict resolution skills.
2. To increase congruous internal operations and effectiveness within each individual organization.
3. To facilitate better intercommunication and cooperation among these organizations.

The Participants:
There are many organizations who will benefit from this vital and dynamic work. Initially we will be working with up to eighteen individuals from six different organizations. These groups include:
The Peres Center for Peace
Interns for Peace
Mepeace
Israel-Palestine Center for Research and Information
Parents Circle-Families Forum for Bereaved Palestinians and Israelis
Justvision

PHASE TWO:
Continuing The Work
Phase Two will consist of an expanded series of seminars in 2009. This training will be for Jews and Palestinians, who may be unable to travel within Israel, who want to find modes of resolution. We hope to include some governmental organizations as well. The seminars will be hosted in a neutral venue such as Cyprus.
